Mr. DLib generally is an open-source project. However, to ensure long-term sustainability, privacy of users, and the rights of our partners, it is important that every contributor to Mr. DLib agrees to the following conditions. If you do not agree to the conditions, your code cannot be included in the official Mr. DLib project.

  1. Definitions
    1. Operator: The operator of Mr. DLib currently is Dr. Jöran Beel, Zur Salzhaube 3a, 31832 Springe, Germany.
    2. Partners: Partners are typically organizations that contribute content to Mr. DLib and/or use the services of Mr. DLib
    3. Users: Users are individuals that receive the content contained in Mr. DLib typically through one of Mr. DLib's partner
    4. Contribution: Any kind of data or information that is created by you and submitted to the Mr. DLib project. This includes but is not limited to source code, texts, emails, compiled binaries, images/logos/photos, sound/music, ideas, etc.
    5. Contributor: Any person that submitted a contribution
    6. Active contributor: Any contributor that submitted a contribution within the past 90 days.
    7. Confidential data and information: All information and data that is stored in non-public places (e.g. non-public pages in the WIKI, non-public code repositories, emails, all data on Mr. DLib's servers including the databases) or shared orally with the remark that the information is confidential. 
  2. Copyright
    1. You keep the full right on your own contribution. For instance, you may use your own contributions in any other project you like. 
    2. You have the right to use others' contributions in the same way as any other person would be allowed to do it. This means, you have no special rights in using other's contributions. 
    3. You grant the non-exclusive permanent world-wide right to the operator to use your contribution in any way the operator wants. This includes, for instance, that the operator may modify your contributions, decide to change the licence of your contributions (e.g. from GPL to BSD), and use the contribution in any other project he wants. 
    4. You grant the right to the operator that he may give the rights (or parts of them) you gave to him to any other individual or organization.  
  3. Privacy
    1. Confidential data and information may not be distributed to anyone else but other active contributors
    2. Once you are no active contributor any more, you delete all confidential data and information (including all copies) from your devices.
